Our Mission in Africa
Currently we are working in Kenya, Africa where we assist small communities of Rusinga Island, abundant with fishing villages on the eastern shores of heavily polluted Lake Victoria.
When we first came here the people had no clean drinking water, no clean water for medical care and due to heavy drought conditions they had no practical way to water their small gardens.
These communities are home to approximately 1000 orphan children who are living in “child-run” homes which had no clean water or adequate food. There are no orphanages, as there are no adults to care for or supervise them. Living Waters has been working here since 2006 and is committed to reducing the incidence of orphaned children and providing them with health, food and educational needs.
Living Waters continues to provide meals, school uniforms and basic medical care to 150 orphan children. With the solar oven, the fresh water and the flourishing gardens the dedicated local staff are working hard to produce daily meals and caring for the children. Daryl and Mary Jo along with the children and staff wish to extend our sincere thanks to all who continue to support this vital lifesaving program which is making a real difference in the lives of so many of God’s children.
The mission of this organization is to assist project communities:
- Providing Medical and Dental care to the children of the Living Waters feeding center.
- Provide Agricultural enhancements for garden plots with drip irrigations systems.
- Enhance Educational Opportunities.
- Provide the orphans with pure water, food and basic medical care.
HIV/AIDS is a tremendous crisis in this region. It is important to educate the villagers how to access available resources for the education and treatment of HIV/AIDS.
Living Waters believes that a comprehensive approach to meeting people’s needs and providing positive choices brings about life saving behavior change.
Villagers have the opportunity and resources to grow garden plots that will sustain their families by utilizing water efficient drip irrigation systems. Living Waters is committed to reducing the incidence of orphaned children and providing them with acceptable health and educational opportunities.
Scope of this project:
