On December 14, 2025 the rivers, swollen from too much rain, burst through the river banks, decimating homes and villages, roads, and water lines . Lives were lost and many are still missing, buried under feet of mud. One such village was Quebrada Leon in the El Torno region of central Bolivia where the Seventh-day Adventist Instituto Quebrada Leon, a school of Evangelism and Wellness, is located. The institute, which operates with 60-100 staff, lost all potable water as the 3 kilometers of water line coming from the mountains was destroyed.
Living Waters was contacted by Steve Dickman, President of OCI, (Outpost Centers International) who we have previously partnered with. Steve asked if Living Waters could provide emergency purified water relief in Bolivia. After praying about it, and in discussion with some of our Board members, we decided that even though we did not have funds budgeted for emergency relief, we would step out in faith, believing that God was leading. Within 24 hours Living Waters had ordered 15 family purifiers and one large community water purification system. The Institute is providing 2 tanks, deep cycle batteries, transportation from Santa Cruz airport and food and lodging. Living waters has committed to providing the water purifiers, air transport, shipping to Bolivia and volunteer labor to meet this urgent need. Daryl flies out Christmas day and will be back to Arizona late New Years day.
The challenges are many and the need for support is great. We need your prayers for project funding, supernatural intervention at customs, and travel health and safety for Daryl. Mary Jo will remain in Arizona to coordinate the funding and communication with Daryl while in a very isolated area.
Our funding needs are approximately $14,000 and I humbly ask that you consider what you may be able to do to financially partner with us to bring relief to this desperate community. On January 6, 2026 the Institute is scheduled to host 100 volunteers for medical missionary/bible work training but this is contingent on them having safe water. Will you please consider if you can help with this emergency project?
